Yunzi stones have been made for almost a thousand years in the same area of Yunnan Province in southern China. Gorgeous Stones

These stones are very beautiful and quite smooth when held. A few extras are included to accomadate for any broken stones during transit (I received 187 White and 181 Black. Only 1 white stone broke, luckily no black stones. [For reference sets are only suppose to have 180 white, 181 black, so i got quite a few extra white in this particular case]). The bowls that are included are also very nice. There was also a couple of gold cloths that came in the carrying case.Instructions for caring for and cleaning your stones are included. As recommended I used some colorless sewing/all purpose machine oil that I bought from Joann Fabrics (needed some to fix a computer fan as well, so was great timing). I will quote the guide on this one point for those who want to have their oil ready for when their yunzi stones arrive: "Sewing machine oil is suitable, avoid cooking oils."The black stones really do have a mesmerizing green halo effect when viewed through light. It is awesome.I've only used glass stones that I think might have been a little bigger, but in comparison, these stones are definitely lighter and easier to handle.If you want a nice set but are strapped for cash, I recommend splurging on these stones and waiting on a really nice board until later.A highly recommended purchase.

These stones came in good condition and are of great quality. None of the stones arrived cracked, and the bowls were likewise in good condition. The carrying case is convenient as well. The stones are pleasantly heavy and only one or two had any noticeable defects. Yunzi is a wonderful material - not much like glass, but rather more like stone. All in all, worth the cost.
