5So far so good.
By AM-Review
I have had this exercise pedal machine for a little over two weeks now. I use it for a hour and a half each day (two 45min sessions). And so far I am really enjoying it.Within the first week one of my pedals was making a thumping noise/feeling on each cycle (it was definitely the pedal and not the internals of the machine) and was quite annoying, but this was due to improper positioning. Since then I have got it in the perfect position and it no longer does this.Overall the operation is quite smooth, but on occasion you can feel a bit of 'grittiness' on the cycling, but nothing that severely impacts the performance of the machine. It is most definitely quite too, and this a HUGE plus for me. It makes virtually no noise whatsoever. The construction of this machine is top notch, the main internals of the machine are rock solid and don't move/vibrate at all.As far as a good exercise is concerned, it does very well for it's small package. Granted it doesn't have the strength of a full-sized pedal machine, but for its size it goes above and beyond what I expected. It has just enough resistance to get a great sweat worked up and burns calories quite well. And I am not even sure if I have mine turned up all the way (it's at least pretty close to full). If I keep it between 15-17 MPH for 45 mins, according to the machine I burn between 420-460 calories. Obviously this calorie count isn't 100% accurate and is probably a low-ball estimation, but even if it wasn't that is a decent amount of calories for 45mins IMO. For my weight and age I estimate the calorie count from the machine plus 20%. For my two 45min sessions on this machine, I estimate I burn over 1,000 calories a day on it. And just so we are clear I am a 24 year old male and have very strong legs. And this machine has the perfect resistance level for me. Not too easy, and not too hard.As far as ease of use is concerned, it doesn't get any better than this. It is small, portable, quite and can be used with practically any chair. I currently use my computer chair and it works out magnificently. I do the machine while watching some Netflix instant watch TV shows (which are 44 minuet long shows). And the time just FLY'S by when you do it this way. In a way it's almost fun. The on-board meter that comes with the machine does its job pretty well. It has the most simplest features, but these features to me are crucial. Calorie count, time, speed, and distance. The machine cycles through these every few seconds. And for me has worked out very well. It has a auto-stop feature that stops the clock if you stop cycling (and starts back up when you start cycling again), which is nice to have. It is also easily reset by holding down the main red button for a few seconds. The only complaint I would have about the meter is sometimes it's hard to read, It would be nice to have a back-light of some kind or perhaps colored LED letters/numbers (like a digital clock). Now finding the right position for the machine in relation to your chair/legs can be quite tricky. I suggest you mark the floor with the spots you are comfortable with (I use tape to mark the end points). That way when you use it again you will have it in the same exact spot as before. And trust me, this makes a bigger difference than you might imagine. As this is one of the biggest drawbacks of the portable machine like this, is the inconstancy with placement. Cause the full sized machines are always fixed. So if you mark the floor and keep it in the same spot each time, this will make it much better. The other part about this machine is that it does move, especially when you start to speed up. I have tried a few different things to keep it from moving, putting weights on the end, but this didn't help much and it slowly creeps forward as you use it. I now have a bar that hits the end of the machine legs and is placed against a non-moving platform. So far this is working great for me. But make sure you do something like this, because if the machine slowly moves forward, it can get quite annoying and changes the dynamics of the exercise more than you might think.Another thing to note about this machine is that the outer plastic casing does warm up (not hot, just warm). I am not sure why it would warm up, cause if it was 100% magnetic based, there shouldn't be any touching/rubbing parts on the inside. But perhaps the heat comes from some kind of magnetic energy field that gets generated when using this. But either way the warmth isn't a problem at all, just thought I would mention it.Overall it is working out great for me. I am not sure how long it will last, but so far with almost 25 hours of constant use, it is holding up nicely.P.S. Oh and I use this machine with my bear feet. Never tried using it with shoes yet.UPDATE: Well, it's been just about 3 months now since I received this product. I am proud to say I have been using it for at least 45 minuets a day since I got the machine... I have not missed ONE day of exercise since I got it, no kidding. Mixed with a calorie reduced diet and 45 minuet pedal exercise each day, I am steadily losing weight, feeling better and looking thinner. There is only a few things I want to point out. First isn't so much about the machine, but about technique. After using this machine daily, you really start to work your way up in speed. I can now hold steady at 24-25 MPH for 45 mins straight. This ends up burning roughly 670 calories according to the bike. And believe me, even after all this time of me using the machine, I still get one heck of a burn. I have never sweat so much in my life (seriously). This may sound gross, but after I am done with my 45 mins on the machine, my t-shirt is literally dripping with sweat. My entire shirt from head to waste is absolutely soaked (especially my backside). And I have to make sure I have a heavy duty sweat rag to wipe my face and neck every minuet or so. So yeah, the machine does work just as well as a stand-alone machine IMO.Secondly is the downsides I have found so far. For the most part, the machine still works flawlessly. It is still very smooth and the resistance stays the same day in and day out. However, it does make a lot of creaking and cracking noises when I use it. At one point it was making a very loud horrible screeching sound every time I rotation around. So I took the outer-shell off as best I could (without unscrewing the pedals) and once I put it back together the sound went away. But is still creaks, cracks and pops with every turn, and can get very annoying if you let it get to you (it's the sound of the outer-shell plastic moving against itself). If tedious popping and creaking sounds annoy you (they do for me, I also hate constant barking dogs), one thing you can do is put on a movie or TV show and crank the volume up while you use the machine. Another solution would be to completely remove the outer plastic shell around the machine. I would do this, but my pedals seems to be permanently stuck in place now, so I cannot remove them and therefore cannot remove the shell. But aside from looking a bit odd (neat inner workings though) this should get rid of the creaking noises. And far as I can tell from when I unscrewed the shell, it does nothing except add cosmetic features to the machine and make creaking noises. But the overall operation of the machine is still is in good working condition. Aside from the annoying popping/cracking noises that make it anything but quiet, it works great and provides a excellent exercise.UPDATE 2/19/2011: Well, this is just a minor update to comment on the bikes long-term use. As mentioned previously in my last update, I had commented that the machine makes constant creaking and cracking noises as you use it, and can drive somebody absolutely insane if your a person who gets overly irritated at random noises that are completely out of your control. Well, after repeatedly performing some make-shift surgury to the bike to finally pin-point the problem, I have completely eliminated the creaking noises by lining the entire inside of the machines shell (where the plastic meets itself) with thick tape and screwed it down nice and tight. The creaking noises are now completely GONE!However while I always manage to fix something, another problem rolls right around the corner. So after fixing the plastic creaking FINALLY, now I am having trouble with my pedals. Aside from the horrible squeaking as I rotated the pedals (they just needed some oil) they are now getting more and more loose(side to side and up/down looseness). So this in turn often creates a strange 'lumpy' feeling on each rotation when I am using it, and can often make thumping noises too. The good thing is that this bike seems to have the same pedal threading and size as a regular bicycle pedal (and every other exercise bike pedal as well) so I think I can easily replace the pedals with different ones for less than $15. And once I do that, it should be smooth sailing!Overall though, the internals are still working absolutely perfectly with no flaws that I can see yet, even after 45 mins a day for just about 4 months now (I still haven't missed one day yet). I am simply amazed at the quality of the construction for the moving internal parts. The pedals may suck, and the case may need fixing to avoid creaking and is cheap plastic... but the insides are built like a tank!UPDATE 5/26/11 - Well, still not ONE day has passed where I did not exercise at least 45 minuets on this pedal exerciser. Since my last update there hasn't been any major problems that have arose. There have been some minor technical problems with the pedals, but after completely dissembling my pedals and re-oiling them, it has been fairly smooth sailing. Sure the pedals still click and 'thump' under certain circumstances, but they are holding up quite well.Recently I tried switching the stock pedals with some non-stock pedals I got from here on Amazon, but the new pedals I got were worse then the stock ones. Only a few minuets into my exercise and my new pedals started thumping horribly, which was unbelievably annoying. I have since replaced the new pedals with the stock ones after a full disassembly and re-oiling.In case anybody is wondering, the stock pedals for this machine are 9/16", and they have no bearings whatsoever.

5Sturdy, small, and silent!
By Ghina Yamout
I loved it. I was afraid that it was going to be fragile and noisy. It is small, silent, and pretty sturdy. Does not move (although my chair which has wheels does)and does not make noises and people at the office cannot hear me pedaling. Resistance is not that high, but who can concentrate on work and have a high resistance at the same time. It does the job of keeping your legs moving while you are working on a desk...

5A good buy
By Rebecca DuMaurier
My husband and I are very pleased with this exerciser. It works just as expected and is very sturdy and effective. It's easy to use and doesn't take up much space in our small apartment. It is definitely worth buying if you need such an exerciser and don't have a lot of space. It has a built-in handle that makes it easy to move around even though it is heavy. The gears work smoothly and it makes very little noise. The display is easy to read.Although the first one that was shipped was damaged in transit and the company was a bit slow to respond to my initial email about the problem, once one of their competent customer service people took control of the situation, it was resolved promptly and courteously.

5Very well made

These tools are very well made (Two Cherries is always excellent). These tools are small - the handles fit entirely in your palm, so if you want to be able to use a mallet then get larger chisels.

5Great little tools
By Jim
These are excellent caving tools. It did not take much to put a final edge on them and the factory angles seemed good. I used them in basswood and mahogany and all cuts were very smooth and even. The tools are stouter than my other palm-sized tools. A light mallet could probably be used since it has a full ferule. I was not sure how the octagon handles would feel, but they are comfortable. They are a great compliment to full-sized tools.

Sjoberg Elite 2000 Workbench Product Description:

  • Vise capacity 5-3/4 inches

  • Weight 268 pounds

Product Description

SJOBERGS of Sweden has been manufacturing top quality workbenches for over 80 years. Their entire product line of workbenches was designed to meet the needs of a modern day woodworker and to take advantage of the latest manufacturing techniques. The range of features is truly amazing and cannot be matched by any other manufacturer. The Elite series of workbenches is smarter and heavier than any alternatives on the market - anywhere! Designed and built by Swedish craftsmen of European beech, the top is over 3-1/4" thick in the center with a skirt of 4-1/4". All surfaces are treated with a premium quality enriching oil. The specially developed vises provide enormous clamping power across their full 23-1/2" width. Youll be amazed by their clamping speed, accuracy and smoothness. Suitable for right or left handed persons - in less than two minutes, the vise can be removed and fitted on either side of the bench. A double row of 1" round dogs work from both vises. Both benches are available with (as shown) or without a storage cabinet.

5NICE!
By Scott
Outstanding workbench. The biggest problem is that it looks like a piece of fine furniture, so you may be hesitant to start banging away on it!I considered benches from Pinnacle, Veritas, Ramia, Lie-Nielson, Hoffman-Hammer, Grizzly, and Laguna before eventually choosing the Sjoberg. In looking at the available choices, the sheer mass of this one attracted me -- the top is a full 3-1/4" thick, with a 4-1/4" skirt. Few others have that kind of mass. Even the Lie-Nielson has only a 2-1/2" thick top, although in its defense, the LN top is hard maple as opposed to the beech used by Sjoberg. (The only other contender here is the Grizzly 84" bench, which has a 4" thick top, but I eliminated it from the running because I needed something shorter than 84" and I read numerous complaints about the hardware on the Grizzly bench.)I really liked the chain drive, twin-screw vise on the Lie-Nielson... But not enough to justify the nearly 1k additional cost! The vise hardware on the Sjoberg Elite 2000/2500 is quite robust, and I'm happy with it. Unfortunately, there isn't much information about this hardware available online, so I will add some to this review for potential buyers to consider. The Elite's side and end vises are identical. They each employ a single acme screw at the center, with 1" by 2" rectangular steel bars at either side of the screw. The bars are held horizontally by what appear to be Delrin strips, and those strips can be tightened against the bars via two adjusting bolts. The end result is a smooth, tight vise with very little horizontal or vertical racking. (One of mine was a little loose, but a quick adjustment of the bolts corrected that.)The vise faces are 23-1/2 wide by 4-1/4" high, and 2-1/2" thick. The rectangular bars are inset 6" from each end of the vise, so when holding a board vertically you have a full 6" of clamping surface at the left or right side of the vise. The side-mounted vise can be easily relocated to the other side of the bench. The manufacturer's description says this can be done in "two minutes", but that's a bit optimistic. I would say 10-15 minutes would be a better estimate. The end vise cannot be moved to the opposite end -- so switching from a "right-hand" to a "left-hand" configuration consists of moving the side vise to the opposite side, then rotating the top 180 degrees on the trestle (only the front set of trestle legs have dog holes, so you want the side with the vise aligned with those).Only the top and sides of the benchtop are oiled. This is probably fine if you have a heated, humidity-controlled workshop (yeah, doesn't everyone?). Most people will want to oil the bottom of the workbench and the dog holes (hint: remove the vise hardware so you can oil the wood above it) before setting the top on the trestle. Sjoberg supplies a bottle of what I think is raw linseed oil, but I chose to use a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and turpentine for better penetration and faster drying. The top is reasonably flat, with some slight crowning of about 15/1000 from center to edge. This may be due to the way it was stored/transported, coupled with only being oiled on one side. Who knows what conditions it has encountered between manufacture in Sweden and final delivery to me. I plan to wait a few weeks for it to aclimatize to my shop, then re-check and flatten if necessary. The double row of dog holes down the length of the bench, coupled with the double-row across the bench adjacent to the side vise, provide a lot of clamping choices. But beware the dog holes are 1" diameter rather than the more common 3/4" -- and there are very few third-party dogs, holdfasts, etc made for 1" holes. The bench comes with (4) steel dogs, and additional dogs are available from Sjoberg in steel or aluminum (the aluminum are a lot lighter, and also less likely to damage a plane iron if you hit one). Sjoberg also makes a 1" screw-clamp holdfast that works really well. All in all, an outstanding bench most likely destined to become a family heirloom.

4Mixed feelings due to manufacturing shortcuts
By D. B. Fowler
After much research and soul-searching, I decided to invest in a Sjoberg Elite 2000 bench to help me with my woodworking with handtools. I'd looked at many options online, and drove 25 miles to a local Woodcraft store to take a look at the range of Sjoberg benches - and I'm glad I did. The models in the $500 range lacked the solid feel you want when planing a board - and the Elite 2000 is not only solid but features 2 excellent vices.I decided to order from Amazon because they had the best price ($50 cheaper than my local Woodcraft with no taxes (9.5% in CA) ) and offered Free Scheduled Home Delivery for Amazon Prime members. It took about 10 days for the bench to arrive, and the delivery guys made their scheduled drop by pulling up to my house it at 2:58 pm. The bench was well packed, with the bench top (with pre-installed vices) securely fastened to it's own shipping skid. The legs and hardware were well packed in a second box - not padded, but well fit in a box. After reading ScottW's excellent review, I had planned to spend time sealing the bottom of the bench. What I had not expected was to find sloppy workmanship on a $1700 workbench.Based on ScottW's advice, I decided to remove both vices to apply oil underneath. The unit ships with a small hex-head wrench for just this purpose - but I found that the wrench head would not go into 1 of the 8 screwheads on the tail vice. I found small driver head that fit the screw - and was surprised to find that instead of being inserted at 90 degree angle like the other 15 vice screws, it was slanted at 45 degrees. Not only that, but the screw was not the same as the others - a standard wood screw instead of the collared hex-head screw that appears to be the standard - and the head of the screw was bent. (see photos I uploaded). With some effort I got the odd screw removed - will have to replace it.Once the vices were removed, I was stunned to see that the factory finish coat of oil was applied over the face vice - leaving a large section of unfinished wood on the face of the bench (see uploaded photos). Even when I applied the supplied oil (which was rather "gunky" with separated bits of was floating in the linseed oil) the coloring on the face didn't match the factory-applied oil. I have to wonder if my workbench was the last one finished on the Friday before a big holiday -All that said - this looks to be a well designed workbench and the core elements appear to be well made. The vices are high quality, and the glue up on the top appears to be top quality. I'm giving it 4 stars for now - willl update this review once I've completed assembly and put the bench through a few tests.Overall - solid design, well packed and shipped on time - just be prepared that you may find a few surprises when it's time to put it all together.UPDATE:After 6 months of use, I stand by the 4 star review of this workbench. I have now completed several projects, and have used my jointer plane to return the benchtop to dead flate - something you should expect to do every 1-2 years depending on where you live. As I've learned more, one small criticism is the 1" holes for bench dogs and hold downs - the standard size for most benches is 3/4", which means you can not readily use hold downs and wooden bench dogs from other manufacturers. The Sjoberg hold down is solid, but bulky compared to others (see Veritas Bench Hold Down 05-G-1401 on Amazon) that are designed for 3/4" bench holes.Recently, the folks at Lie-Nielsen have come out with a $2000 "Improved Workbench" that I would have considered had it been on the market when I plunked down $1700 for this Sjoberg bench. Check it out if you're in the market - it's not only made in America, but I've acquired several L-N tools and the quality of the workmanship and customer service really sets them apart. I tried contacting Sjoberg in Sweden, but was disappointed by the poor quality response I received - another reason I'd stay closer to home for such an important purchase.

5Great Work Bench
By N. R. Crites
Big and heavy workbench. Came in just two days in two boxes in excellent shape. Bench was easy to install with all parts fitting as they should. I would highly recomment the Sojbergs Elite series of benches. These benches are comparable with the best.

4beautifully made

I loved the seat covers that were supposed to fit my truck, but they didn't take into account that my seatbelts are built into my seat. I would have loved to have these in my truck! :(

5APC C3BLK offers great features at a good price
By Alberto Vargas
I got this recently at an offline store for a fraction of the price listed here. Look around, you should be able to find fantastic deals on this unit. I use it to plug in my home theater pieces and internet router.Basically, all home theater power conditioners are glorified surge protectors and power strips. In some cases, if you have a very specific power problem, it is worth getting a fancier one that does voltage regulation or has UPS, but most of us don't need these features. One major difference between APC and other manufacturers is that APC offers insurance up to $150,000 (or more, depending on model) for whatever you are protecting, and many of their products (this included) have lifetime warranty. Hard to beat that for peace of mind.I compared this unit with more expensive and fancier competitors (Monster and Panamax units that show you voltage and amps used on a little screen and cost more than ten times what I paid for this). The more expensive units did not improve the quality of sound and video in my home theater on top of what this unit did. What they all did for me is filter the noise coming from my cable internet coax, which was causing loud buzz in my subwoofer. Now the noise is gone.Since all are practically the same, I chose the cheapest one: this. Highly recommended.

5Another quality APC product
By Theodor E. Winkel
I only purchase APC surge protectors. This is ideally suited to our small home theater system. Some expected signal loss between coax in and out but not enough to take it out of the acceptable range. Quality product.

4Is this priced right?
By blu0ne
I recently bought this same item at Home Depot for around $7.00. Why this is over $50 here is anyone's guess. Maybe a mistake?

5best priced deep well set
By Aaron Nelson
GOOD-the contents said 2- 3/8" spark plug sockets but it's 3/16" and 5/8"-Stanley owns MAC tools so they're probably made at the same place-the case actually holds the pieces quite well-the cheapest deep well set you will find from a reputable companyBAD-the picture is off a bit= where the 3in. extension(for 1/4" drive)is actually where the other spark plug socket resides the 3in. extension sits under the 6in. extension-plastic screws hold the case together at hinge (case is cheap any way but this just adds to the fact)-the tools have the same effect of touching a news paper.(you get blackresidue on you hands)this will probably stop if you wipe them down when you first get themI saw a set of black chrome tools a Lowes manufactured by HUSKY they appear to be exact aside from branding for 69.99, ten dollars more but they're in store the packaging is "different" when you first open the set you will have to undo 10 or so philips screws to remove a clear plastic packaging over the sockets and what not.Overall this set was worth the money

3Stanley 92-824 decent but not 5 stars
By J. Hunker
I needed a fairly inexpensive socket set in both SAE and Metric, I opted for this smart-looking offer from Stanley. I paid quite a bit more to get these black, laser-etched set over bright chrome. Although it is a decent-looking set, there are a couple of caveats that I would have liked to have known before ordering. The laser etching is not very deep at all. I can't even feel a depth to the markings. Maybe I envisioned this wrong but I anticipated deep laser markings. It looks to me that after a few bouts with grease and solvents, the gold-color identification will wear off. Not something that would happen with the deep markings on a typical bright chrome set and not a desirable feature when paying more than bright chrome. I am glad they have a good warranty, as long as the markings are covered.I was disappointed to handle the pieces for inspection and have my hands blackened from a coating, which I assumed to be a type of cosmoline to protect the finish. These are supposed to be black chrome. Why would this finish need added protection? So the set would look at smart as the picture, I had to hand polish each piece using WD-40. Not a big deal but not expected, either. The case quality was mentioned in another review. Some pieces fit rather loose in the case and some are very tight, even being difficult to pry out.I came close to exchanging this set for bright chrome and refund of difference but they will suffice for my lighter-duty needs. Looks like I'm the first to rate this set 3 out of 5. This set will work but, to me, it has a few misgivings.

5Quality set for the DIY
By M. Ladd
I have been very happy with the purchase of this socket set. First, I will tell you that I use it for DIY projects around the house. I am not hard on my tools and do not use them on a daily basis. What I was looking for was a quality set at a decent price, and one that would have pretty much every socket and accessory I may need. This fit the bill perfectly. I know the black finish will seem gimmicky to the true professional, but I like them. I will agree with another reviewer that the case holds the sockets very well - perhaps too well - they are sometimes difficult to remove. Lastly, and MOST importantly, when I am using these tools they feel like a quality product rather than a cheap one. The sockets fit snugly on the handles, and the the handles smoothly release each socket. If you want socket set for DIY home projects which works well, has everything you should need, and you don't want to pay too much for it. This is it.
