Minka-Aire Fans-High Quality

Already had 2 Minka-Aire fans in my home so making the decision to purchase 2 more for the guest bedrooms was a no brainer. They are beautiful to look at, very quiet and very functionable. Worth the price. Great wall controls included. Dimmer on lights and multi speeds on fan. Looked at less expensive fans but they could not compare.

Ceiling Fan success

I ordered this fan online because I just could not find one that I liked locally. The product arrived promptly and in good shape. It was relatively easy to install and is as it was represented to be ie efficiently moves air (the extra tilt of the blades does indeed make a difference) and is very quiet.

Great fan, but difficult to install!

The fan is beautiful, very well built super quiet. My wife had me take down a old fan in a bedroom and install this one. I am a master electrician and I have installed many fans. With this one the lamp wiring is very tight in the container and a connection came apart so I had to take apart the fan and reinstall the lamp. Other than that it works and looks great!

This is a great fan. I had a friend put it together for me since it had so many parts though.The color is great, matches my satin steel refrigerator perfectly. The fan has 3 speeds. The 3rd speed is so powerful it takes out the flame on my gas stove.I would definitely recommend this product.

Mika Aire 44" Concept I White Ceiing Fan

This fan is great! It is clean and modern looking and is very quiet. It is difficult to get the receiver and the wires all into the small ceiling cap, but the fan was easy to put together since the blades and lighting cover just snap in. The remote works well and has an optional mounting bracket for the wall. My room is small (about 12' x 13) and the 44" fan produces plenty of air flow. In fact, the high setting is almost too windy to use! The low and medium settings are great. The shortest down rod (I think it is 3 1/2 ") works well with 8 ft. ceilings. I was worried about this but I didn't like the bulky base of the flush mount version of this fan (Concept II). I am glad I chose the Concept I as it is light and airy in my small space.

Positive:This fan is absolutely gorgeous. Seller (Del-Mar) was terrific when I spoke to him about this prior to purchase. Negative: the fan was shipped in it's own box without being in another box for protection. The box had massive damage to it & had been taped over with wide clear tape to hold it together. BUT, the contents appeared no worse for the wear as there was much Styrofoam inside to protect it. You should be aware though, that unless you have very high ceilings and install the fan with the LONG down-rod, you will NOT be able to install the 2 pieces of decorative scroll-work NOR the beautiful coupling cover over the motor housing, making the appearance flat above the motor housing and fan much less ornate looking than in the pictures. I have circled the parts that will not be able to be included in your fan installation. Highly recommend this seller and this item - just be aware that item will not look as pictured if the shorter down rod is used.

The Minka-Aire gyro Fan is probably a pretty good product, however, the fan I received was defective. I installed it and while both fans worked electrically, one of the fans was binding internally and would not continue rotating. A call to M-A tech support quickly diagnosed the fan as defective and I was told to return it. I can't say enough good about Del Mar Designs, the Amazon Vendor. Shipment was paid by Del Mar both ways and their "No Hassle" return policy was truly no hassle. Credit was issued promptly.

Attractive lamps

I ordered a pair of these lamps thinking that they would be "Made in America" because the company is located here. I was disappointed to see the boxes stamped "Made In China". The lamps themselves are very attractive although there are a few flaws in the workmanship. I decided to keep them anyway and overlook the flaws that probably are only apparent to myself.

Mixed Experience--Mixed Review

Of the pair of these House of Troy Newport Collection Table Lamps I first received, one had to be sent back immediately due to a serious defect. Specifically, the factory did not correctly assemble the column to the base, so the lamp very visibly tilted to one side, like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Hard to believe the factory missed this defect, as it was obvious as soon as I opened the box.On both lamps, another problem is the finial, in my opinion. For some reason, I expected it to be made of brass. Instead, it appears to be a brass-plated pot metal casting with a crudish thread that is hard to get started without cross-threading. The finial is more or less representative of the workmanship of the lamp as a whole, which is acceptable but slightly "off." If the lamps are hand-finished with the variations this implies, fine, but the hands need to be a bit more highly skilled. My conclusion is that these lamps do not look as refined in reality as in the picture. No doubt I would consider them more favorably if they cost less.Notwithstanding the preceding, the lamp I did not have to return looks impressive. The overall design is very good. The double lamp sockets with pull chains are an excellent feature, even though the chains don't align perpendicularly with the cord coming out of the base, a detail I would have liked to see. The lamp gives a positive sense of weight, solidity, and strength. And the shade is quite nice, although more tan than off-white.The bottom line is that the lamps are good enough (when not defective) that I asked Amazon.com to replace the defective lamp, rather than my returning both of them. This decision was not easy, because it seems to me that the price of the lamps exceeds their quality. Hopefully my luck will be better next time and the replacement lamp will not be defective.Follow-up. The replacement lamp was also defective, as it came out of the box with a sharp dent in the side of the base. These lamps are so well packed that the dent had to be there before the lamp left the factory, in my estimation. I also had this lamp exchanged. The next replacement was free of outright defects as far as I could tell. So finally I have a matching pair of lamps in the living room. They look good enough to have been worth waiting for.

My second purchase of this fan

I'm very pleased with this fan.This fan matches the Mission (Arts & Crafts) style of my home. It's well made and reasonably easy to install. The two wire (plus ground) electric connection means you don't need to rewire a ceiling light (otherwise to control the fan and both lighting sections would require a hard-to-install new multiconductor wire).It does require a ceiling fan electric box with extra weight capability(~50 lbs), but these are relatively easy to install into a wooden stud ceiling from below (through the octagonal ceiling light box cutout; once you've removed the old lighting ceiling box). Be sure to turn off the breaker for the circuit or get an electrician.It has a "bracket" that mounts to the ceiling box, and a "ball" on the hanger pipe that allows you to use both hands on the fan to lift the fan in place on the ceiling; much easier than trying to hold the fan in one hand and put a pin in with the other (I don't think I could lift this hefty fan with one hand safely).The package contained everything I needed, except the fan ceiling box and two 60W candelabra bulbs (use bulbs rated for vibration use). There are two "hanger rods" (short decorative pieces of pipe); one that is "minimum length" (~3.5 inches) and one that is "short" (~6 inches). If you have a sloped (cathedral) ceiling, you'll need a longer pipe. Most big box home improvement stores have the pipes and fan electric boxes. The metal color is described as "iron oxide" which I took to be black when buying the fan, but I would call it more a dark bronze color.Once installed, you have to "teach" the fan to recognize the wall control switch; it was easy.It took me about 90 minutes to install and test.The fan is quiet, three speed and reversible, all controlled at the wall. There are no switches on the fan. Each of the two lighting sections (one above the blades, one below) is independently controllable, with a continuous dimmer. it remembers the last setting.

COOLEST FAN YOU'LL EVER OWN

This fan looks fabulous and performs even better. It well exceeds my expectations of a ceiling fan. You have the choice of the fan spinning or you can have it blowing stationary. The light works well and I highly recommend the remote control. That way you can dim the light as you please and change fans speed or direction or placement. Absolutely marvelous! I'm so glad I bought it - saw it on an HGTV makeover show and just bought it because of the appearance, but the function makes it the best fan I've ever owned.

Gyro fan

This is the 4th gyro fan that I have ordered and I am thrilled with all of them. They are quite unique; delivery is quick and the product comes very well packaged. I have other metal colors in the other gyro fan but this restoration bronze is a color that will fit with virtually any color scheme. I ordered it for my kitchen remodel and it is mounted on a vaulted ceiling and is quite eye catching.

Good Fan!

I have a electrical contracting company and have been doing electrical for 32 years and have put up hundreds of ceiling fans for customers. This fan I bought for our front porch. Along with the fan I installed the remote control. The fan itself is made well and is one of better fans I've put up. I can always tell after I've installed the fan and turn it on how well the fan it made just by looking at the wobble. This fan had no wobble, it tracked perfectly and I didn't have to mess with weights to get it back in balance which usually never works. To me this shows the manufacturer has taken the time to make sure every blade and blade holder is perfect. Only time will tell on how reliable it is but so far it's two thumbs up.

plastic blades for outdoor use

The plastic blades look a bit cheesy as they are plastic. But this is for outdoor use. Neighbors installed an indoor fan on their patio a couple of years ago, and the wooden blades droop quite a bit.
