4Excellent choices with 3 different, but great smells
By Arieh R. Whisenhunt
I was happy to try all three of these perfumes for men as I have been unhappy with most men's fragrences, but love great smells. I have even gone to the extreme of buying my own exotic and expensive essential oils and trying to come up with something I like, and have, but nothing beats a professional quality perfume. Clive Christian does have exceptional quality, and the price is worth the quality. Trust me, at $500/oz or more for some of the essential oil ingredients, making a quality perfume is expensive and it is not all just hype and brand name. Personally, I liked X the best of the three, because it has less floral and a more spice/oak/moss and earthy smell. It has enough floral to make it light and pleasing, but is more masculine and modern smelling. No 1 is my second favorite, but the top notes are a little too strong for me and it takes a while for the heart and base notes to develop in my opinion. When it settles in, the base notes take over and then it is fantastic. 1872 is a lot like No 1, but just not as crisp and definitive as No 1. Both No 1 and 1872 are familiar smells, but a lot better than you have ever smelled before. X, again in my opinion, is the best and the better buy for your money. It was nice to have all three to compare and I'll use No 1 and 1872 occasionally, but X is the one I'll buy the full bottle of.

1Disappointed!
By Compulsive Shopper
I bought this as a gift and thought it was a steal. It's a steal alright! I feel robbed!!!!! Doesn't have any fragrance, I don't know if that is because the product is old or fake but basically I spent money on water in pretty packaging. Disappointed!!!!

5Well Worth The Price, For A Fragrance Lover At Least...
By HARKONNEN... Forever
Being no stranger to purchasing insanely expensive luxury fragrances, I have bought many, many luxury frags in my time from all the top houses that are around. Creed, Amouage, Lorenzo Villoresi, Montale, Durrani, Acqua di Parma and many, many other " niche " and high-end houses abound in the fragrance market, but where does one go to when they really, really, want the undisputed master of fragrances, the one that will blow the socks off of all the competition: Clive Christian, that's who, and he's superb creations: 1872, the amazing X, and the superb undisputed Emperor of all fragrances on the planet Earth, No.1 ( and don't be surprised by that title, because IT REALLY IS NO. 1, bar none ). Now, keep in mind because of the insanely expensive prices of these colognes ( I am a man so for me every fragrance for a man is " cologne ", and every fragrance for a woman is " perfume ", when in all actuality the breakdown is like this: Eau de Cologne ( approx. 5 - 15% fragrance oils, Eau de Toilette ( approx. 15% to around 35% essential fragrance oils ), Eau de Parfum ( approx. 50% - 70% or so essential fragrance oils), and Pure Perfume ( approx. 75% -95% essential perfume oils, essentially the whole flower or source of the fragrance itself being used to make whatever fragrance concoction is being made). Clive Christian's fragrances are only made in Eau de Parfum and Pure Perfume, and they even used to come in diamond bottles but because of the INSANELY outrageous price tag for the diamond bottles ( you were essentially paying for the bottle and not actually for the fragrance, they ran almost $3,000, after taxes and S/H ) the diamond bottles were discontinued and now they are made in the standard bottles that the EDP's come in, botht he EDP's and PP's come in the same packaging, bottle and all. About the fragrances themselves? Well, 1872 is pleasant enough but is not something that most " hip " or " with it " people of today would wear. It is stuffy and gruff in a sort of old English grandfather sort of way ( perhaps why the it was aptly named " 1872 " ). I personally do not like 1872 and would not buy it, only in this Traveler's set. " No. 1 ", the best of the bunch and the most famous, has no description because it is beyond, FAR BEYOND WORDS. There is NOTHING, no fragrance on planet Earth that can compare to this one. It is rich, floral, oriental, blended in a way that just makes you forget where you are. Even half a tiny little spray of the Pure Perfume of this fragrance will last all day. However, the actual 1.6 oz bottle ( the only size it comes in ) of the Pure Perfume costs $ 865.00 everywhere, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, botique stores, etc, so if you are a fragrance hound or snob and need to have the best fragrance and don't mind parting with nearly $1,000 for a little bottle of the best fragrance in the world be my guest cos I sure DO envy you! My choice for starters, and anybody who buys this line is " X ". It is spicy, aquatic, exotic, mysterious, understated, sexy, all rolled into one. The Pure Perfume of this cologne costs $355.00 for a 1.6 oz bottle and is worth the money if you want to have the SECOND best perfume in the world, at a fraction of the price of the best one. Either way, you can't go wrong with Clive Christian. Hands down they are better than all the other houses out there: Creed, Amouage, Pierre Montale, Martine Micallef, Lorenzo Villoresi, and any other house out there can't even wipe the windows of the house of Clive Christian. No way you can go wrong here, just suck in your gut, pick your chin up, step lively, walk tall and carry your big fat wallet to the nearest retailer to buy yourself a bottle of " Clive Christian X " Pure Perfume. Cheerio!
