British invasion! Taking its roots from legendary British guitar amps, the English Muff'n recreates their majesty and classic tone with spot-on accuracy. Rather than approximating these amps like "emulator" products, the English Muff'n employs vacuum tubes to produce the richness and natural saturation of Brit-valve sounds. A bloody masterpiece!

EHX English Muff"n A Tasty Treat
By Frostie44
I was looking for a distortion pedal that offered more than the usual stompbox could offer.I had tried several from other makers and was dissapointed to find that the effect did not track with the notes that I played. That is, the distortin component produced was monophonic in a way, the sound created by the effect seemed to stay at about the same frequency regardless whether you played at the third fret or fiftenth fret.I am also a steadfast lover of tubes so when I saw the EHX English Muff'n I had to try it.The EHX English Muff'n solved this problem but also added so much more flexibility to my rig with with its responsive 3-band EQ that it is now a mainstay and I do not play without it. The price may be a little higher than most but it is worth every penny.

Outstanding with one minor modification
By bmused
This is an awesome pedal for getting a gritty vintage overdriven Marshall tone a la Hendrix, etc. However, the two EH 12AY7 tubes that come with it make it far too harsh and trebley sounding for single coil guitars like my Fender American Deluxe Strat. Fortunately, I found that replacing the left tube with a Tung-Sol 12AX7 was the perfect change to reduce the harshness/treble and adds just the right degree of warmth. You still need to turn the high control to "0" and the low control to a very low setting. But the tube change makes it highly usable for the exact type of sounds I was seeking. However, as much as it suits my needs, it is still very much a "one-trick pony" as far as being a distinctly vintage, fairly dirty sounding overdrive and is not for those seeking flexibility or transparency.

Fantastic Tube OD
By Mark Showalter
This pedal uses actual tubes & is powered by an A/C wall wart. I highly recommend trying out various tubes because this pedal will change dramatically depending on what tubes you use & what order they are in. I love this gadget & it's my favorite OD. I'm planning on getting another one to replace my Behringer Tube Monster, which I like but have other plans for.
