Product Description
This is a brand new wood core low profile balance beam. It is 8 ft long with a padded top and is covered with a heavy grade synthetic suede material. The material is durable and easy to clean. The work surface is 4 in. wide and the beam is 5 in high.
The beam is made using cross grain laminated wood construction. This gives the beam its strength and prevents warping or twisting and eliminates the need for a center support. The core is hand planed to its final shape with rounded corners and edges.
The support braces are 12 in. wide and made of wood with rounded corners and soft edges. The bottom of the support braces have felt padding to protect the flooring beneath.
This will make a great practice beam.

Perfect home use balance beam!!

I bought this 8' low beam (in pink, with a purple z-fold mat as a combo) directly from The Beam Store. I made the purchase on a Tuesday midday. The set arrived that very Saturday via their standard shipping methods (FedEx Ground/Home Delivery).It took us 30 minutes to put the low legs on (mostly due to having an overly excited 7 year old 'helping')...but it went together smoothly and easily.The mat is well made, and the beam is just stunning. My 7 year old is thrilled to have the set in the house and is already practicing her routines from gymnastics class at home. She says this beam is 'softer' than the one at her gym...I'm not sure if she's meaning the padding, or the feel of the material...but either could be a distinct difference due to the sheer wear and usage of any beam you'll see in a gym, vs a brand new piece. Either way, I'm perfectly fine with it being a bit 'softer' at home...gives her more padding so she can work the moves harder before she transfers them back to the high beam at the gym.The set fits well along the side wall area of our living room so she can have it out all the time, but it's not in the middle of the walking path of the house. It was the same price whether we bought 'standard' colors (beige beam, blue mat) or went with something unique. I'm happy to have gone with the unique route...why not let her gym equipment be tailored for her tastes, if it's the same price as standard colors? She's already taken to walking her beam and mimicking the college gymnasts on ESPN where she can.My ONLY concern is that the legs of the low beam bring it up off the floor exactly 2", which is the thickness of the mat in the purchased combo. At times it seems the beam is resting on the mat...but when we graduate up later this year or early next and buy the 12" legs to raise it (already predrilled for the higher legs...woot!!!), it'll no longer be an issue.For home practice, this is a perfect option!

My daughter loves it!

I bought this for my daughter's 7th birthday. She loves it. We got this one because we plan on keeping it in the basement with a mat under it. That setup is working just fine. It is just long enough for her to practice on but still have the feel of the real thing on her feet. It is well constructed and I think it will last a long time.

Great piece of equipment for practicing...my 8 year old isn't much of a fan and only uses it when practicing her handstands, etc. My 3 year old is another story...it's probably because of her size but it's perfect.Super easy setup - no brainer
