An excellent specialty product

We use this product to transmit data from a fuel system computer across an airport to the place where we produce the bills when people pump gas. The fuel computer only has RS232 communications capability. The WBX2100E allows us to use a telnet program to access the fuel computer remotely.This product was very easy to install and configure. It has a built-in web server for configuration. The documentation on CD-ROM was very good.The wireless transmission distance in our application is about 1/4 mile. It has been reliable in all weather conditions (snow, heavy rain, thunderstorms).The configuration at the fueling site looks like this:[fuel computer] <> RS232 <> WBX2100E <> [HyperGain 12dBi Patch Antenna]The configuration at the billing site looks a bit odd because we were not able to string ethernet cables through a hangar. We used Netgear powerline bridges to solve the problem, and it works well:[HyperGain 12dBi Patch Antenna] <> [Netgear Wireless Access Point] <>[Netgear XE102 Bridge] --powerline-- [Netgear XE102 Bridge] <>[Netgear Router] <> [billing computer]The antennas and antenna cables do not come with the WBX2100E. We bought them from HyperLink Technologies. The antenna is a small 4" cube and was easy to mount and aim. Each one cost about $26. The HyperLink antenna part number is HG2412P.The WBX2100E has an RP-SMA connector and the antenna has an N-Female connector, so the best cable for us was one that had an RP-SMA plug on one end and an N-Male connector on the other. The HyperLink part number for the cable we used is CA-RSPNMA010. Each cable (10' long) cost $25.

I've used these units for years and can't remember a bad one. They work exactly as you expect. I work with industrial automation - not sure what else they would be used for.
