just what I was looking for......

I got this product for Christmas 2010 from my wife. I ordered the black one, but the one that they sent me was different than the black one that they have pictured. Its black, but it has the features and look of the colored LM18's. It has the bigger pouch at the top of the neck, and the leather has more of a "leather grain feel" to it. I do kind of a music-therapy gig,and I play every day. My prievous gig bag was by wolf pak. It was good,but bulky and after a year, it was starting to wear out.So this year, I bit the bullit,spent the money and got an expensive leather gig bag.So far I have been very happy. It looks great,its not as bulky as my old one, and my strat fits in it very well. Highly reccomended.

Great instrument.

This is an awesome instrument. I've always been a fan of Ned Steinberger's work and this cello does not disappoint. Now, I am a guitarist crossing over to the cello, so when I set out to buy an electric cello I was put off by the way they look. Most electric cellos are downright ugly, all of them. They look more like space ships than anything else. Not the CR6. This is one sexy instrument. It is very light when compared to an electric guitar. With the CR6 you can tell that someone who knows about ergonomics had a saying in the design. There is a small brass button on the back telling you where 4th position would be. The controls are easily accessible. The included tripod is highly adjustable; you really can put it in any position. The electronics are very good, but if you play though small speakers the sound gets honky and buzzy. I recommend getting an active (powered) speaker with at least a 15" woofer for amplification. Larger woofers reproduce the lower frequencies better than small ones. Also, the more power you have the better. The increased headroom of more powerful amplification helps a lot when you are playing with other people, particularly if there are drummers involved. In addition, I have friends that have had incredible results with bass amplification. It makes sense, since the lowest note on the CR6 is still not as low as the lowest note on a 4 string bass guitar (by a minor 2nd, but still). If you are going that route, get a combo amp with a 15 inch woofer. Ampeg, Carvin and Gallien-Krueger have great combo amps that will give you a sweet sound, plus bass amps usually have an effects loop if you want to ad special effects to your sound.This is a remarkable instrument, and I truly feel that NS offers a better built cello than any other company, particularly because of the state of the art electronics. Take the Wood Cobra cello for example. That thing costs twice the price of the CR6 and it does not include a preamp for the pickup. Everyone knows that if you are using a piezo pickup you NEED a preamp if you want the best sound. You can still use a piezo without a preamp, but the sound quality suffers immensely.

An amazing cello

The 6 string NS is quite an amazing instrument. Even when it is not plugged in it has a great cello sound. There is a learning curve to play it but it offers the electric cellist a sleek, portable, cello sounding option. The only questionable detail is the bag that comes with the stand in it. Putting such heavy equipment right on (with just the cloth of the bag between them) the cello itself seems chancy.

Outstanding

This is a truly outstanding mic. Not only for its cost but its size.I gig often playing both Alto and Tenor saxophone and this mic was the best microphone investment I have ever made. The sound quality is crystal clear and once you find the sweet spot for your instrument it picks up all ranges and all volumes fantastically. I highly recommend this mic.Ok, so there is just one very minor thing..There is a module type thing at the end of the mic cable that will drag on the floor if you don't do anything prevent this. Personally I just loop it in my belt to keep it off the ground and it doesn't bother me, but it may annoy others.Also, be warned, this mic requires phantom power.

Great mic, plug it into a good system

I bought this mic for my saxophone. I play in a cover band that plays lots of loud music, and I was getting over-powered. It sounds great, does a nice job of picking up my horn. You should be sure you are plugging into a good PA system. Ours is getting maxed out at this point, and our sound guy had to turn me down. Not a mic problem at all, but be aware it won't solve all your problems by itself. Totally worth the investment.

excellent value for the price

This is an excellent value veterinary otoscope set. It has bright illumination and luer locking head for secure connection to the battery handle. The rheostatic on/off switch dial also uses for adjustment of the brightness level, a convenient feature. The metal part and handle have beautiful satin finish. The handle fits in the palm of my hand comfortably and has just the right weight. Amazing quality lens. It is comparable to other more expensive brand sets. It works great, looks nice and a good bargain. I'm very happy with mine and highly recommend it.

Don't settle for the cheapest cymbals. The reason why better cymbals cost more is because of the bronze content. Cheap = brass. Brass = terrible sound. Go for bronze, and you'll get gold when it comes to the sound quality of the cymbal.

K custom hybrid offers more than just a K

I purchased this cymbal about four years ago. I own an A custom brilliant, which, as many who've used it know, washes out within just a few seconds of average stick work. This K not only blows it out of the water being a great deal darker sounding, but the center being unlathed leaves for a much dryer sound if rode near the bell. all in all, it is incredible, and the only reason to not get this beaut would be if the washing out of your ride is desirable, or if you'd want a super dry sound with a k dry (which, if you didnt know, actually has dirt on it [and of course is completely unlathed]).these things are expensive, and id say that this is one cymbal i was super glad i bought.

Fostex MR8 mkII digital audio recorder

The bottom line is that this little machine is easy to operate and makes very good recordings. At the price it's probably a bargain. After using it for many hours and a number of recording sessions I have these comments:1. The LCD display should be raised and tilted toward the user. You can't see the display when seated. If you want to monitor recording levels, etc., you must stand all the while you're recording.2. The control knobs and the track fader sliders feel cheap and flimsy. For example, you can easily wiggle the knobs side to side. Also the track fader sliders should have more built-in friction to prevent accidental movement. They move too easily.3. The Owner's Manual, while in general well written and easily understood, needs to be reviewed and edited by someone who understands, reads, and writes perfect English. There are a number of important explanations in the manual that are hard to follow and/or understand due to the odd use of words.4. This modestly priced machine will tend to be purchased and used by amateurs who know little about digital recording. As such, it should be clearly noted in the Owner's Manual that when the instructions for recording are followed exactly, the MR8 mkII produces digital recordings peaking about 4 to 5 dB below -0dB. This level of audio will not create an audio file or burn a CD that sounds 'loud' enough, and the manual should make this clear. The manual should go on to explain that digital recordings typically need to be 'normalized' to -0dB and that this requires the use of a digital audio editor (like the free but excellent Audacity software).

Great product and reasonable price

I purchased the MR8-mkII with some trepidation. However, I've grown to appreciate the technical expertise and real world practicality of the product. Should the power go out, the back up batteries work as advertised. The sound quality with the headphones is superb. The various sound combinations and recording quality far exceeded my expectations. The only real fault I find with the MR8 is the documentation which accompanies the product. It's very hard to follow, and is ambiguous (at least for me). However, the product is superb, and I highly recommend it for musicians or others who need great sound reproduction.

First time recording, Easy and good quality

Right out of the box I was recording, The booklet is wordy and confusing as all instruction manuals are, but with some fiddling Your good to go. If you want to record some solo acoustic stuff, I highly reccomend this recorder. Do your research, know what mics to use when. Having never recorded before I'm experiencing certain mixing problems, but thats only for lack of knowledge. This device is easy to use, fun to experiment with and has started me on my path of home recording. If your a recording noob, the MR8 is for you.
