5Great 5.1 Receiver With Digital Soundfield Processing
By MINDSCI
I have THREE JVC RX-5060B Dolby Digital & DTS 96/24 Receivers. I got one in 2007; one in 2009 and one (used) in 2013. I have them hooked up to a 15 speaker & 1 subwoofer killer surround setup in the same room. The greatest things about these receivers are the ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF ADJUSTABILITY & the DIGITAL SOUNDFIELD PROCESSING which makes this possible.ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF ADJUSTABILITY: I am using these three receivers in the same Theater Room in my home. I am able to do this because RX-5060B's allow one to adjust independently the speaker distance and output level for each and every speaker and thus the Digital Delay for each. This has allowed me to setup a seamless 15.1 speaker surround "kickass" experience. Just about every other aspect of the sound is adjustable to via the "Remote Jog" control set. It consists of only 4 buttons with a central rotating "Jog" selector. Everything from crossover frequencies; equalizer; volume level for each speaker; and ETC. are adjustable from here. It is so easy to use and intuitive that using it becomes second nature. Importantly, so much more is adjustable here that one should download the user manual just google "JVC RX-5060B manual" and get it from JVC's support site.DIGITAL SOUNDFIELD PROCESSING (DSP): This is one of the best features ever put into a receiver! and the RX-5060B has it in spades! DSP allows one to apply Digital Profiles to process the sound so that it is experienced as if it was coming from one of several possible Venues. The JVC has nearly a dozen of these. When one of the presets is applied it makes the JVC's sound appear as if you were actually in one of these venues! Among them are: Hall1, Hall2, Theater1, Theater2, Pavillion, Dance Club, and more. With one of these engaged, you would swear you were actually in one of these locations! Yamaha pioneered DSP in the 1980's, but DSP can only be found on a couple of brands and models of receivers to the extent of the JVC RX-5060B. In addition, one can adjust the amount of the DSP effect applied. Finally, the the JVC has 2 "midnight" modes that can apply digital dynamic range compression so that you don't blast your neighbors out of their beds if you live in a condo or apartment.DOLBY DIGITAL, DTS 96/24, AND MORE: The RX-5060B has a setting so that the receiver will automatically detect the digital audio format. This "Digital Auto" setting is great as it will detect the best digital format for the given source. Thus with a 3D Blu-ray movie it will select DTS or with DVD's it can select Dolby Digital. The user can also overide these choices too.REMOTE: All of the JVC's inputs, surround settings, and DSP settings can be adjusted by remote. The remote can also be used to individually adjust the output of each individual speaker.DIGITAL COAXIAL & OPTICAL INPUTS: These are assignable. With digital inputs one can utilize the best in sound quality. This is what allows me to use 3 JVC RX-5060B's seamlessly together.Alas, the RX-5060B obviously does not support 7.1 sound. Currently, the only way to get 7.1 Lossless sound formats is with HDMI enabled receivers and Blu-ray sources. I myself can't yet justify plopping down $1,200 for a new set of similarly equipped (DSP) receivers. Moreover, the DTS 96/24 digital sound I get from 3D Blu-ray's played with my Smart 47" 3D HDTV VIZIO E3D470VX 47-Inch Class Theater 3D LCD HDTV with Internet Apps is more than enough to blow me away.

5Excellent inexpensive amp. Full featured. Sounds great. Durable
By SmittyNYUSA
I have had this amp/receiver for years now and it has performed well. No problems.Sound is excellent. Has plenty of power for and does not distort when cranked up.I have it in a vacation rental and it has never given me any problems. Looks great too.Has LOTS of fancy functions I never use.Highly recommend for the price. I have my first stereo amp at home that I bought in college 40 years ago and it's a JVC and still works flawlessly! That's why I bought the JVC brand.SmittyNYUSA
