Hitch install
By kz sportsman
This is a good stong hitch but took several hours to install in my 08 Chevy silverado long bed. After receiving the hitch I realized I needed the frame brackets also. The brackets that come with the hitch require drilling a total of 14 holes in the frame. I didn't think that was a great idea. With the optional frame brackets I only had to drill 4 holes. With the frame brackets they provide a 1 1/2 bolt by 3/4 for the drivers side forward hole, that you have to drill. It is too long to pull thru the box frame. A 1 1/4 bolt is needed. Everything else works as per the instructions. The biggest issue is getting the nuts and block washers on the carriage bolts coming down thru the truck bed above the gas tank. I used an 18 in long ratchet box wrench. I hot glued the block washer to the 3/4 nut and inserted in the wrench and fished it back over the gas tank while the wife turned the carriage bold from above until it caught the nut. That worked pretty well. There is no way I can figure to get a torque wrench in there. Was the install easy. No. But it was doable. I had 9 hrs in the job spread over 3 days. You do not have to remove the heat shield, just bend it out of the way and then bend it back. You do have to remove the spare tire. I am 64 years old and in fair shape. I figured it saved me enough money in labor to buy a couple tanks of gas for a trip.

fifth wheel hitch.
By N8
This hitch was of very good quality, and easy to install for just about any back yard mechanic. Only took about 2 hrs and just a few tools of which I already had. The price however was the best part of the package, at about 2/3 the price of every where else I Checked.

Good hitch for the money
By slick
I purchased this for a 40+ year old Ford F250 because the universal mount was the only one I found available. I was able to mount the unit with the existing bed and frame bolts and added a piece of plate steel to the front rail with no drilling of the rails, the installation came out very clean and relatively easy. I am towing a 32' toy hauler with a gross weight of 12,000 to 13,000 pounds and the hitch works great, hookup and disconnect both work easy and I am very pleased with this unit.
