Works as advertised!

I have a 2004 Ranger with the 4.0 V6 SOHC. This kit was a great way to add a bit more power and life into the engine. The truck definitely "breathes" better and has more power. Even just a few horsepower has made the difference. You will hear a little more noise when the air intake is open, since this doesn't restrict the airflow like the original stock box did. This thing is wide open, and thus creating that extra horsepower since you have a lot more cold air being sucked in. The truck's computer had no problem adapting to the new kit. The only thing I haven't done is see if my gas mileage has actually improved like they claim yet or not. I did have one hiccup installing the kit, but that was my fault. I had put the air sensor back in reversed, so the truck couldn't read how much air was being drawn in, causing the truck to rev up, then die and then start up again. Once I got the airflow sensor in right, problem solved, and the truck was ready to go. The instructions are easy enough to understand, and the whole thing is made here in the USA! I recommend this to anyone with a Ford Ranger with the V6 SOHC version. If you have the older 4.0 OHC V6, make sure you get the kit appropriate to your motor. This kit I reviewed here only works with the newer SOHC version.

I have a 2004 Ford ranger 4.0l V6 and this kit was a breeze to install. Other than looking and sounding good I have noticed a little more pickup at higher speeds when overtaking, not anything melting my rear tires with blistering fury, but a little more kick. I just installed it yesterday so I don't know if there will be any Fuel savings (increased MPG) especially since I have been putting my foot down trying to make a little noise now that it is installed. I researched this product for a while and K&N has lived up to my expectations so far.
