'Best bang per buck' audiophile BARGAIN and STEAL!

I did a lot of research before settling on a high-quality, well-built, affordable 'high-end' single-drawer CD player. CD players are only as good as their DAC chips/converters and quality of components, and fortunately, the CD5001 has a high-resolution 'Cirrus Logic' 24-bit/192 kHz chip, which imparts excellent inner detail and neutrality to the music. The CD5001 easily sounds like players 2 and 3 times the price. Playing this through my high-end McIntosh amplification and Magneplanar MG12/QR speakers, I could hear nothing that would in any way detract from an excellent music listening experience, and everything that would enhance it! Inner detail, warmth, accurate timbre, instrument and vocal separation, 'air', etc. etc. was all there in spades, and I must conclude that the CD5001 is an immense bargain in CD audio. Also, the drawer/spinning mechanism (which is metal, not plastic) is totally quiet when playing a disc, and the built-in dedicated headphone amp will bring your 'cans' to life with high-quality sound. The sonic quality/dynamic range of CD's are still much better than MP3 audio files on my iPOD and 'Creative Zen' players, so when I want real 'high end' audio with headphones, I turn to this hi-res CD player and my Sennheiser HD-595 headphones. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this phenomenal sounding and well-built unit in every respect! GREAT JOB 'MARANTZ'!

Marantz CD5001 Single Disc CD PlayerI purchased the Marantz cd player after reading the review of CQ DX. I had been using an excellent sounding Nakamichi MB10 cd player with a Mondial Acurus preamp, Mondial 200 watt amp with floor standing JMLab speakers. I had 30 days to audition the cd player in my home and found that the sonics were better sounding than my Nakamichi. Clarity, inner detail and musical soundstage are excellent. Upon listening to this cd player I decided to keep it and replace the Nakamichi I am so happy with the gorgeous sound. I listen to all kinds of classical, jazz and rock and roll music. Audition one and you will buy the Marantz CD5001. Great job Marantz even if it is made in China.

Everyone knows the saying "You get what you pay for", but in this case, Marantz is practically paying you! This is a great bang for you buck type product. My friend owns the CD5001 and I have the pleasure of listening to it quite often. For $300, this is a great deal on a piece of audiophile hardware. It is made of the highest quality and sounds great. The big bonus in having a quality CD player versus a portable CD player is that there are more details revealed in the music and details are everything to audiophiles! All in all, a great buy and I'd highly recommend Marantz any day.
