5surprisingly good!
By Thomas Hood
These cymbals are awesome! I bought them to use with my practice kit at home only because they were so inexpensive, but they sound just as good as my A Zildjian Quick Beat cymbals! I love them! I would try other ZHT cymbals.

5Once more
By Oligonicella
I wrote an earlier review extolling the product and the (considering my dealings with others) astounding response for shipping. Excellent product.I got the first for use as a sculptor's stand. Obvious, when you think about a medium sized work. Well, I got the stool and am so pleased I ordered another so I can work on two simultaneously. I *had* a table-top stand, but I'll replace it with this at twice the price because it's far more than twice the quality and convenience of use. Thanks again guys.

4Solid stool, well built
By Christopher
I use this at a stand-up desk, so I'm only sitting in it for a few minutes at a time. Just as well, since the seat is somewhat uncomfortable, rather hard and clearly not intended to be sat in for long periods. That's OK, though, since that's not the point... Overall a serviceable, well-made stool for the money. Very stable, with a wide range of height. The foot rail is easily adjusted and strong - I can stand on it with only a little noticeable deflection.Pros: Durable, simple, easy to assemble, clean lines, stable, easy and big height adjustmentCons: Uncomfortable seat

5Necessity for the Jamman.
By T. Jones
This footswitch control makes the Jamman much more usable from any playing position. Although I find the "Mode" button pretty useless, the "Up/Down" buttons are truly necessary for the operation of this unit.If you have a Jamman, buy this too.

3Works OK but over priced for what you get
By Keith R. Brown
this switch does what it is supposed to do, but for about 7 dollars in parts I could have built my own. The only issue with this device is the high price to value ratio. If you are able, build your own, you will need three momentary spst push buttons and a stereo phone jack, and a case to stick it in, that's it. I will most likely keep it, but just thought folks should known that this item is mostly a whistle in the world of bells and whistles.

4Dont let the name "footswitch" mislead you
By decay603
Got it for my digitech jamman solo. it works just as it should the cable that comes with it is a little cheap but whatev. Dont let the name "footswitch" mislead you, i have successfully actuated all three switches with other means beyond just a foot. I have used my elbows, forehead, and knees and it still works GREAT! I've even gone to the extents of using poles, rods, canes and even had my dog step on it, it works and he has paws not feet! kudos to the designers of this marvel!

4Works well with out blowing the doors off.
By robert louis duckworth
I had this installed in a kit ash bodied Jazz bass with a maple neck. The bass has a pair of Bartolini humbucking Jazz bass pickups that I have had for almost 30 years. They are not loud but Bartolini's had a reputation for being very high fidelity, flat response pickups. This preamp was like adding a hi-fi EQ to my bass. It won't make your bass into a huge, monster sounding animal, but will give you the choice of adding high end clarity and more low end to your instruments output. And, I thought the pull volume "slap" switch would just add clicky highs but it actually pulls some mids a little instead, which is much more usable. There are actually trim pots on the board that adjusts the midrange pull and a bass boost, but I have not messed with those yet. So, this won't make your bass into a Musicman Stingray(I had one and they are a GREAT, huge sounding bass), but it will give you some nice controls like the two pickup pan pot(my '82 Wal Custom bass has that), the pull mid EQ switch, and hi-fi style bass/treble EQ to your bass. You will probably have to get some routing done under the pickguard. My tech did everything from pulling the old stuff out and putting the new in for $90.00 total. A nice touch was the circuit card had velcro mounted to it already to stick in to the interior of the basses rout. I have one of the chrome Hipshot bass bridges on it. British invasion! Taking its roots from legendary British guitar amps, the English Muff'n recreates their majesty and classic tone with spot-on accuracy. Rather than approximating these amps like "emulator" products, the English Muff'n employs vacuum tubes to produce the richness and natural saturation of Brit-valve sounds. A bloody masterpiece!

5EHX English Muff"n A Tasty Treat
By Frostie44
I was looking for a distortion pedal that offered more than the usual stompbox could offer.I had tried several from other makers and was dissapointed to find that the effect did not track with the notes that I played. That is, the distortin component produced was monophonic in a way, the sound created by the effect seemed to stay at about the same frequency regardless whether you played at the third fret or fiftenth fret.I am also a steadfast lover of tubes so when I saw the EHX English Muff'n I had to try it.The EHX English Muff'n solved this problem but also added so much more flexibility to my rig with with its responsive 3-band EQ that it is now a mainstay and I do not play without it. The price may be a little higher than most but it is worth every penny.

5Outstanding with one minor modification
By bmused
This is an awesome pedal for getting a gritty vintage overdriven Marshall tone a la Hendrix, etc. However, the two EH 12AY7 tubes that come with it make it far too harsh and trebley sounding for single coil guitars like my Fender American Deluxe Strat. Fortunately, I found that replacing the left tube with a Tung-Sol 12AX7 was the perfect change to reduce the harshness/treble and adds just the right degree of warmth. You still need to turn the high control to "0" and the low control to a very low setting. But the tube change makes it highly usable for the exact type of sounds I was seeking. However, as much as it suits my needs, it is still very much a "one-trick pony" as far as being a distinctly vintage, fairly dirty sounding overdrive and is not for those seeking flexibility or transparency.

5Fantastic Tube OD
By Mark Showalter
This pedal uses actual tubes & is powered by an A/C wall wart. I highly recommend trying out various tubes because this pedal will change dramatically depending on what tubes you use & what order they are in. I love this gadget & it's my favorite OD. I'm planning on getting another one to replace my Behringer Tube Monster, which I like but have other plans for.

5Good quality, stock belts don't fit.
By Dustikus
Ordered this for my mud truck to slow down the belts a bit as I had an issue with the power steering belt flipping upside down at about 7000 rpm. Easy to install, can't exactly tell a power difference with a 600 horse motor, but it did cure my belt issue. A couple things to note if you're planning to install these. The factory belts, (at least for a 87 Chevy Pickup) will not fit, Gates part numbers are as follows: Alt: K050420 P/S: 7370 Application wise, alternator belt for an '87 Camaro with a 5.7L, power steering belt for a '79 Chevy K20 Pickup with a 5.7L. Only other issue I had with installation was that the alternator pulley was so thick I couldn't use the original lock washer, but a bit of thread lock and so far so good. Hope this helps someone.

5BBE Opto Stomp Great Value, Great Performer
By Vince
Keep in mind that not all compressors work exactly the same way. Some control volume more by boosting the signal then attenuating it, some add distinctive tonal characteristics. Some have a very noticable hard-knee in the compression curve.Keeping all that in mind, if you know what this one does, AND YOUR WANT WHAT IT DOES, its a great little piece of equipment.Although its a stomp-box, it functions more like a studio compressor. By that I mean, its best used strictly to regulate overall volume in a "transparrent" way. If you want to click it on to solo and get boost + ringing sustain + classic stomp-box compressed tone - buy a different one.If you want to transparrently even out volume of inconsistent pick-ups, if you want to smooth out inconsistent pick attacks, if you want to use different playing techniques without worrying changing volume - its a great choice. Great at the end of your effects chain like a studio compressor, but also handy at the beginning of your chain to improve the performance of any effect that tracks pitch, or is otherwise sensitive to changes in input level.Sometimes on sale for less than $70. Can't beat that, I feel its worth $99.

5BBE is awesome.
By T. N.
Can you get a better compressor? I'm sure there's some $400 boutique pedal out there that is possibly better than this one. But for ***$60*** this is completely unbeatable. I'm a bassist and I have a number of other compressors (Aguilar, Markbass, EBS, MXR, Line 6 to name a few), all of which were at least twice as expensive as this one, yet this one sounds better, has better build quality, is quieter, and easier to use. I have a $3,000 Modulus bass, a $1,500 amp, so it is not a financial decision that I use this pedal--I would probably pay four times what they're asking for it here, but to get a compressor this good for this little money is a complete no-brainer, just click 'Add To Cart'!

5Subtle pedal, nicely built, easy to operate
By Bassman Al
This little pedal is really nice if you are looking for a subtle way to help your sound. I play bass, and I use this pedal now all the time, although I may use it for select songs as I learn more about it. If you are looking for a radical makeover in your tone, this is not the pedal for you. If you are looking for the finishing touches to an already nice tone, this is worth looking at. The Amazon price is almost half what it costs on other sites, and if you have Amazon Prime, return shipping is free, so you have nothing to lose by trying it out!

Remo Conga Drumhead Fiberskyn 2 Pack 10"/11" Product Description:

  • 2 conga drumheads FiberSkyn M7 type tucked F5 film on 10" diameter head F6 film on 11" diameter head

Product Description

Remo's patented tucked drumheads are a major breakthrough in drumhead technology that is without equal in the industry, and has been lauded by top players as the best alternative when replacing rawhide natural heads for such as congas, bongos, or djembes. This 2-pack contains one 10" diameter- and one 11" diameter head to replace the heads on many standard conga pairs. The original glue crimplock channel FiberSkyn 3 has long been the choice for top percussionists like Karl Perrazo of the Santana band and Poncho Sanchez because of its high overtones and projection qualities. The Tucked FiberSkyn 3 drumhead still has the original tone qualities and added durability with Remo's patented tucked construction. Remo's tucked heads technology is a process in which the film is wrapped around a steel insert ring just as animal skins are "tucked" around flesh hoops. Remo has created a more durable drumhead that can withstand extremes of tension that are needed for many of world percussion instruments.

5Exactly What I wanted
By E. Lehman
Well, first off, I'd like to share just a short bit of hell that I went through to get this item, and NOT because of Amazon (they were excellent). I did my research for a good 2 weeks trying to find exactly what I needed for the software I've been using. Currently I've been spending every night after work enjoying my X-Session Pro with PropellerHead's Reason 4.0. Anyways, after doing my research I knew exactly what I wanted and needed. I ended up going to 2 different guitar centers in Manhattan, one of which told me they didn't even carry the item (even though I had the printed item from guitar center's website in my bag). Anyways, after a long drawn out battle with Guitar Center, including an online order which after a week of not shipping, I had to call THEM, only to find out that GC no longer would carry the item.. absolutely stupid. Ok, I'm finished complaining, but I only wanted to share this because I finally just got onto Amazon, ordered my X-Session Pro, and BEFORE Guitar Center had even removed the charge from my credit card, my X-Session was waiting for me at my house...So Cheers to Amazon and it's excellent Vendors. (this was free standard shipping as well)As for the Product. What I like? It's VERY VERY light. I can easily take this anywhere I go. Although it's a bit of an awkward shape..the knobs are kind of tall, over all, I'd consider it fairly portable. I would recommend, however, simply throwing in a shirt or some soft cloth material on top of it (that's not going to get fuzzies in the controls) just for some extra padding. The response is very smooth! I use this with Reason and find the delay time to be very minimal, especially for something that's working with USB.No power supply needed! This is one of my favorite features for at the home. It's powered through the USB bus. HOWEVER - LAPTOP USERS beware! That means it will drain battery quicker of your laptop when in use, but I can't imagine running any audio software / doing anything serious with this without being stationary / plugged in to your power supply.Nice Variety of controls. I love my knobs..ohhhhh I love my knobs...I wish I could have 400, but I do like having 12 knobs and 4 faders or whatever. Another note is that the beauty of this USB device is simply being able to program the controls to your likings. For instance, you can program an oscilator to a fader... if that suits your style... so basically you can adjust tempo / levels with knobs or sliders... it's kind of nice to have that kind of variety and freedom.Overall, there really isn't anything I don't' like about this so far. I don't use the play/stop buttons, perhaps because Reason simply does not support them, but I'm not upset. The reason I bought this was to use the control nobs and sliders and it's perfect for what I wanted.I am for sure a novice at this stuff, but this is certainly an excellent edition to studio. I'd recommend it to anyone who already owns a keyboard with usb/midi support etc, and doesn't want to pay a ton of money to build their own work station.:)

5An awesome, inexpensive controller!
By Double Prime
I've been using the X-Session Pro for a few months now, and I have to say, this is an awesome controller. It's very portable and lightweight (if only I could say that about the rest of my setup!) and has a good response. It's really easy to set up and it's given me a ton of extra buttons, knobs, and faders, and is a great counterpart to my M-Audio O2 (now called "KeyRig 25"). Currently I use it for a fairly unconventional setup in Ableton Live, involving eleven separate tracks containing a multitude of full length songs, vocal samples (speeches and acapellas), loops, and one-shots. The X-Session is good, because it allows me to control the volumes for my four main channels, as well as effects on the rest. Overall I would have to say that this is one of the best products around, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Even better, the MAudio Digital DJ Mixlab System comes with a free version of Torq, which is useful for playing around with mix ideas quickly and easily.

5Short and Extended review.
By Consumer
QUICK REVIEW:---CONS:1. Bring your own light!!! It's not backlit (which doesn't matter at all really). At certain points during various gigs when I first got this and was becoming accustomed to the layout, I was straining to see everything. This is easily remedied with a small lamp or LED rig of some sort.2. The FX knobs aren't notched at the center like the EQ knobs are. A minor issue when you're Deejaying after you've become familiar with the device though.3. Not ideal for scratching or excessively or forceful use because the sliders aren't replaceable. (See below for more detail on this point).4. No headphone cueing (see solutions to this item below).---PROS:1. It weighs less than a hummingbird.2. The EQ knobs are notched at the center.3. The sliders feel surprisingly authentic.4. It's ultra portable.EXTENSIVE REVIEW:---Who should buy this?DJ's who use Torq, Traktor, Live, etc.---What do you need if you wan't to cue in Torq/Traktor/Live?X-Session doesn't have a headphone jack for headphone cueing. You'll need an external audio I/O midi device such as M-Audio Conectiv, or Traktor Audio 6.I recommend the Traktor Audio 6 or Traktor Audio 10 because then you can output multiple virtual decks to a physical mixer as well as output Live to the same mixer and give them all their own physical channels via midi and cue via the mixer or the Traktor I/O device. Another benefit to the Traktor Audio 6 or the Conectiv is that they're 'scratch' capable, meaning that, with the right software setup, you can use time-coded vinyl to control your virtual decks in Torq or Traktor. Please research all the options before making a purchase on such a setup though, don't just take my word for it.---But the sliders aren't replaceable?????!?!I use this to mix in a fairly mellow fashion (House, Trance, Drum and Bass, Dub-Step, etc). I don't scratch with this. If you wan't something more sturdy with replaceable items, get something else like a real mixer. If you're marginally rough with this and not pounding the sliders all over the place it's probably not going to break. M-Audio makes very good products that last years and years if you treat them appropriately. DON'T GET THIS IF YOU WANT TO SCRATCH. Get a Traktor Audio 2, 6, or 10 if you want to scratch, then you can bus things out to a physical mixer that can withstand scratching and excessive abuse.---How does it feel?Great! The volume and pitch sliders both have a certain resistance to them that feels fantastic when mixing in both Torq, Traktor or Live. The sliders feel really great. I can't understate that. They feel better than my DJM 3000 sliders did when it was brand new (which costs about $800 dollars more). Compared to a Tech 1200, I'd say the sliders are about half way to feeling that good. For a midi device, I think that's impressive.---Is it easy to set up?On OSX, yes. You don't need drivers for OSX and programs that are midi capable (Live, Torq, Traktor, etc.) all make it very easy to set up each control very, very quickly.---Can you play this like an air guitar at a big event?Yes, but it won't make any music :(---Should you play this like an air guitar at a big event at the risk of looking very silly? No, but if you do it will make people smile (some experience required).

Reviews MOTU 8pre

MOTU 8preBuy MOTU 8pre

MOTU 8pre Product Description:

  • FireWire audio interface for Mac and Windows - provides 16 inputs with 8 mic preamps and 12 outputs including separate phone and main outs for all the basic I/O you need for a powerful desktop studio.Eight XLR/TRS "combo jack" mic inputs - connect up to eight mics, or mix and match mics with guitars, synths, drum machines and other analog input signals.Flexible analog inputs - each provides a crystal-clear preamp (for both the XLR and TRS input), 24-bit 96 kHz converters, individually switchable

Product Description

You're simply not going to find the bang-for-the-buck that the MOTU 8pre packs in the next 8-channel preamp you run across. If you've already got a recording interface with light pipe input, then the 8pre is exactly what you need to flesh out your system. If this is your first interface, then congratulations — this thing totally rules! Seriously, what's the point of getting an 8-channel interface if the preamps suck? It doesn't matter how cheap it is, if it sounds like junk then it is junk. And that's exactly what separates the 8pre from the rest. You'd be hard pressed to find a set of eight preamps that sound this good, even if you spent twice the scratch — and that's not even taking the 8pre's killer extras, such as 16-channels of MIDI I/O, complete SMPTE time code synch, and full hardware/software integration into account.

5AWESOME!
By C. Taylor
i've seen reviews of the pres on this unit that say it doesn't sound natural and digi design stuff is better blah blah blah. while that may be true, what you're getting for a little over $500 is so much better and more comprehensive that something you'd get if you spent $500 on a new digidesign product. if you're looking for a recording interface for a small personal studio or additional pres for an existing studio, this is the way to go. solid construction, very easy to use, and as expandable as you want it to be, this is definitely going to be my main rig until i can afford something better. even then, i'll definitely keep this around to use for 8 extra pres. also, i've used this with both mac and PC (running Ableton Live 7 & 8) and had no problems.

5$[...] is a DEAL
By J. Kent
Its really quite simple. For the money, this unit is nothing but 5 stars. I had no experience whatsoever and I started to make great recordings out of a spare bedroom. How did I do it? Simple.1.) The 8pre has really good preamps, especially for the price.2.) I studied how to make the bedroom into a good live room3.) I bought good 200-350 dollar mics. Some were even $75.4. I TOOK MY TIME and did careful positioning of instruments.I know saying that I had no experience will make others say I have no right to say if these pres are good or not, but I'm not a brand slut. I dont need neve preamps for what I do. Of course they would be great and would tailor the music to a specific need, but for rock music, metal, jazz, country and pretty sparkly stuff, this thing will do just fine. Just take your time and you'll be fine. Especially if you only have 500-600 dollars to spend on an interface. For those that have more, spend more, but I'll have this baby for quite some time. I can compare it to previous successful recordings that I have done at expensive studios, and there isn't a whole lot of difference. Especially after I master what I record.

58pre fills the bill
By John J. Sherman
The MOTU 8pre package has been a great way to bring my studio into the 21st century. In addition to having the 8 quiet on board preamps, it's given the nucleus of my old rig, an Alesis XT-20 and Mackie 1604, an on-going role by optically connecting to them for provision of another 8 channels if needed. The bundled AudioDesk 3.2 software, while a lot to get on top of, has proven to be very adaptable and fully featured as well. It's Firewired into a 4 year old MacBook with 2 gigs of RAM running Snow Leopard, which seems to be enough to head off latency and timing issues so far, though i can't say I've really pushed that envelope.
